Our Privacy Policy and Commitment to Protecting Your Privacy

We value our relationship with our clients and thank them for their confidence in choosing Macdonald, Shymko & Company Ltd. (MSC) to provide them with personal financial planning and investment advice. As a client, an individual trusts us with their personal information. We respect that trust and want them to be aware of our commitment to protect the information they share in the course of our relationship.

When a client retains us, they share personal information so that we may provide them with advice that best meets their needs. We get their consent for MSC to use this information in an appropriate manner. We may use and disclose this information in order to:

  • Communicate with the individual in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assess their needs for investment and other services
  • React to tax and other issues that may arise and require follow-up
  • Analyze their financial results
  • Deal with third parties on the clients behalf, as required
  • Act as required or authorized by law

What We Will NOT Do With a Client’s Information

We do not sell client information to anyone. Nor do we share client information with organizations outside of our relationship that would use it to contact you about their own products or services.

We Strive to Protect a Client’s Personal Information

All Fee Only financial advisors, planners, employees and suppliers who are granted access to client records understand the need to keep this information protected and confidential. They know they are to use the information only for the purposes intended. This expectation is clearly communicated.

Your Privacy Choices

A client may withdraw their consent at any time (subject to legal or contractual obligations and on providing us reasonable notice) by contacting your Fee Only financial advisor. Please be aware that withdrawing consent may prevent MSC from providing a client with timely advice. We may occasionally use a client’s personal information to advise them of investments or services we believe may be of interest to them or fit their personal circumstances. A client who would rather not receive this type of communication should advise his or her Fee Only Financial Advisor.

Electronic Consent

As per Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL) you may withdraw from all or selected email communications (e.g., newsletters) from our firm by contacting your Fee Only financial advisor at any time.
