Since 1972, Macdonald, Shymko & Company Ltd. has enjoyed the
support of many individuals and businesses. In fact, some individuals
have been clients for over twenty years. Without the continued support
of our clients and the business community, the success enjoyed by our
firm would not have been possible.
Macdonald, Shymko & Company celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 1997, and
to celebrate, established the Macdonald, Shymko & Company Foundation in
the hope that through the Foundation's work, the company can give
something back to the community which has supported its growth over the
years.
The principals of our firm have always maintained the view that
education is an essential and basic component to being successful,
whether it be in business, or in personal life. Their commitment to
education is evident: all members of MSC including the senior advisors,
are encouraged to pursue continuing education courses. In fact, clients
are often advised that one of the most successful and meaningful
investments they can make is to further their education.
Consistent with this history of commitment to ongoing education, our
firm decided the focus of the Macdonald, Shymko & Company Foundation
would be to provide educational support to those in less fortunate
circumstances. When the Foundation was established, $25,000 was
committed to the Foundation. Since it's inception, the Foundation has sought to focus on
issues that enhance the West Coast quality of life, with additional
focus on children and education as the paving stones to the future. Since its inception, the Foundation
has supported the revitalization of the Stanley Theatre, a section of the TransCanada Trail, a
summer education program for underprivileged children, and the ongoing purchase of computers
for an underfunded elementary school.
