Larry Jacobson
(Investment Counselor)
Larry is a native of Vancouver and received his Diploma of
Technology (Administration and Finance) from BCIT in 1971. He joined
Macdonald, Shymko & Company in January of 1975 and became a
principal in October of 1976. After joining MSC, Larry went on to
obtain his Notary Public designation. Realizing that education is a
never ending process, Larry, at the age of 45, received his Masters
of Business Administration (International Management) from Asia
Pacific International School of Management. He also holds the R.F.P. designation.
Larry was a Practitioner Member of the Canadian Association of Financial
Planners for many years. During that time, he played many
leadership roles, from President of the B.C. Chapter to National
Vice President to member of the Board of Regents. Now, in keeping with MSC's long standing
role in advancing the profession of financial planning, Larry serves on the Board of
the Institute of Advanced Financial Planners.
Larry is the proud father of two sons. He is an avid bridge player and enthusiastically
enjoys baseball and the BC Lions.

Brinsley Saleken
(Investment Counselor)
Brinsley is a native of Vancouver and has a Bachelor of Business Administration (Finance) from
Simon Fraser University. He joined Macdonald, Shymko & Company in 1997 and became a principal of the Firm
in 2000. Brinsley has completed the Canadian Securities Course, received an Associate
Certificate in Financial Planning from BCIT, and holds the CFP (Certified
Financial Planner) and R.F.P. (Registered Financial Planner)
designations. He also successfully completed the Level 1 Chartered
Financial Analyst exam in June of 2000. Brinsley is a Practitioner Member of the Institute of
Advanced Financial Planners. In December of 2004, Brinsley completed the requirements with the
Canadian Securities Institute for the CIM (Canadian Investment Manager) designation.
Away from the office, Brinsley is on the Board of a non-profit society that operates a summer camp
for children and is an avid hockey player/fan. He is married to Debra Ann and has three young
children - Rhys, Audrey and William.

Shannon Cairns
Shannon grew up in numerous cities throughout the Lower Mainland finally settling in Burnaby. She joined Macdonald, Shymko & Company in the Fall of 1999
and is currently working towards attaining her Management Certificate in Finance and also the Associate Certificate in Financial Planning from BCIT.
When not in the office, Shannon can be found with her family climbing rock walls in Squamish
or hiking one of B.C.'s beautiful mountains.
